Lil Wayne's Involvement : Judge's Ruling

During a recent court hearing on May 1, Fulton County prosecutors attempted to play into the record videos of Lil Wayne talking about Young Thug. But Judge Ural Glanville refused, saying the videos would only be allowed if Lil Wayne took the stand. Speaking directly to prosecutors, he said, "It seems like you all are trying really hard not to call [Lil Wayne] and that's your choice." The new twist now is that prosecutors are attempting to apply the 2015 incident to Young Thug in a case where he hired his affiliate, PeeWee Roscoe, to shoot Lil Wayne's tour bus. Initially, Roscoe had been sentenced to 10 years in prison with 10 years' probation but had the sentence quashed in 2018.

Other Testimonies Before the Court Though the specifics of when Lil Wayne will take the stand aren't yet clear, the list was enlightening in other ways. One big name that was revealed to be a witness is Alvin Lewis, the driver of Wayne's tour bus at the time of the shooting, who is set to take the stand on Monday, May 6. He originally sued Young Thug, Birdman, and PeeWee Roscoe over the incident back in 2016.

However, while the videos of Lil Wayne are out, Judge Glanville admitted a long conversation of Young Thug with the authorities in July 2015, while being probed into the shooting. Lawyers for Young Thug had made a motion to suppress the conversation as evidence, contending that the release of the recordings was an infringement of his right to counsel, and that his utterances were not freely given. But the judge rejected their argument and explained that Thug, under this case, was not charged at the time of the conversation, and thus, he did not merit counsel.

Implications for the Trial The potential testimony of Lil Wayne would be among the biggest helps to the 2015 incident, offering insight into the possible involvement of Young Thug at first hand. Being high-profile figures with serious charges, the trial is of much concern to fans and legal experts.
