Cameraman's Lawsuit Against Megan Thee Stallion: Harrassment, Hostile Work A former cameraman for hip-hop artist Megan Thee Stallion on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the rapper, claiming harassment and a hostile work environment.
In the legal papers filed in Los Angeles, cameraman Emilio Garcia claims that the former member had put him into uncomfortable and inappropriate circumstances, including making him witness a sexual act while being trapped in the moving car during a trip abroad to Ibiza in 2022.
Included in the said lawsuit are allegations of fat-shaming and emotional distress, as Emilio Garcia was allegedly teased about his weight and even jibes on how and what he likes to eat, all during the same travel. "All these activities added to a hostile work environment, which was sufficiently severe to have an impact on my mental health and career.".
Further, the lawsuit filed by cameraman Emilio Garcia alleges that the breakages associated with the employment law: the changes in his contract led to unpaid wages and lost healthcare benefits. He claimed the new pay structure now changes from monthly to per-task, otherwise meaning he had been losing a hefty sum of money. He claims that reclassification as an independent contractor led to missed health opportunities and other benefits typically found in a full-time employee.
The legal fight continues to escalate as Megan Thee Stallion's management team, Roc Nation, reportedly dismissed Emilio Garcia this June 2023 for what he felt were retaliatory actions due to his complaints regarding the violation of wage and hour laws.
Megan Thee Stallion's lawyers then released a statement as a response to the lawsuit filed, claiming it was nothing but an effort to smear the rapper's name, one with a prime focus on the financial accusations and not withstanding any sexual harassment claim. They vowed to address the accusations in a court of law.
The case is another layer in the public and legal challenges for Megan Thee Stallion following the recent legal settlement with her music label and candid discussions on mental health.
