The unexpected twist in Snoop Dogg's partnership with Solo Brands
Snoop Dogg and Solo Brands' collaboration has taken an unexpected turn. After the rap superstar's announcement of quitting smoking as part of a viral marketing campaign, Solo Brands, the mastermind behind the stunt, has made a significant CEO change.
According to a report from The Daily Outdoor Retailer, Solo Brands is steering in a different direction following the promotional stunt's failure to boost revenues. They have appointed Christopher Metz, the former CEO of Vista Outdoor, as their new President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of the Board, replacing John Merris.
The news of this CEO change sparked harsh criticism online, with one user dubbing the Snoop-led campaign a "flop."
Snoop Dogg initially shared the news on social media in November, stating, "After much consideration & conversation with my family, I've decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time."
This announcement surprised rap fans worldwide, with The Cool Kids' Chuck Inglish commenting, "Yeah. The simulation is cooked." UFC fighter Conor McGregor, on the other hand, showed support: "Best of luck Snoop! We are with you all the way."
However, it was only a few days after the official announcement that Snoop Dogg revealed his true intentions. Instead of actually quitting smoking, he confirmed his partnership with Solo Stove.
His decision to "give up smoke" referred to the stuff that comes from a fire. The buzz was unveiled as an advertisement for a limited-edition collaboration with Solo Stove, a brand known for smokeless fire pits.
Soon after, Snoop was back to enjoying his smoke. In December, the West Coast rap legend took to Instagram to share a video of himself holding an elaborate 3D joint featuring a rolling paper bust of his face.
In the clip, he exclaimed, "They done smoked this n**ga down to a tee, this Snoop Dogg blunt. Whoever rolled this for me, thank you cuh. We smoking the sht out this muthafcka to end the new year. Wow. Head blown."
This unique joint was created by Sesh Farms, and they provided a detailed description of it on their own Instagram page.
